The 3 Cares

Perfection, appearance, and approval; those three words sum up the cares and worries of the Renaissance artists and Vasari and what they find important.
Perfection: the highest degree of proficiency, skill, or excellence, as in some art. Renaissance artists wanted to be known as having the highest and best skill of all artists, and hold that title until the end of time. DaVinci was taken to classes because his father wanted him to learn the proper way of art, so that when and if he became professional it was “perfect.”
Appearance: the act or fact of appearing, as to the eye or mind or before the public. The artists were very keen on making sure their art appeared to the public. They wanted it to be seen; they wanted it to be marveled at. They were very concerned with the beauty and structure of their art, its appearance had to be graceful and dignified.
Approval: formal permission or sanction. While the artists obviously thought their work was good, they wanted the approval of their audience, the public. They felt that if they were the only ones to enjoy their art, the work was a failure.
The Renaissance was a great period of artistic advancements and discoveries. Many do not realize the true care and concerns that come with art, and as mentioned the Renaissance artists had many concerns and cares when it came to their art. Perfection, appearance, and approval, the three wishes of the Renaissance artists.
