A friend of mine from back home also attends Ursinus with me. Last weekend, he visited his girlfriend at Millersville University whom is one of my best friends. After not seeing each other for over a month and a half, they realized things have changed between them and decided to break their relationship off. This past week, I have been helping him out with his relationship troubles. While his girlfriend seems very eager to break up and move on, he has been having more difficulty moving on and believes he will get over it just by waiting it out. When he said this, I used my quote from The Bhagavad-Gita which said,
“Perform necessary action;
It is more powerful than inaction;
Without action you even fail
to sustain you own body.”
I felt I should state that quote at that point in time because I didn’t believe there was a way he could get over his girlfriend without taking action. I believed taking action and trying to move on will be more productive than not taking any action. Unfortunately, my friend already knew about our assignment, so he wasn’t surprised when I stated the quote, but I felt it related perfectly to his situation. He thought about my advice, and finally agreed that he will take greater steps in trying to get over their relationship. He agreed the stanza fit his situation perfectly, and was good advice for his problem.
