High and Mighty

My friend is notorious for constantly begging me to help her do her biology homework, even though I am not taking bio and don't plan on taking it. Almost everyday she will appeal to how well I read and comprehend things and when I come upon an answer she always compliments on how she owes me and wouldn't have been able to do it without me. Since it is a fairly common occurence I had the quote "Out of compassion I destroy darkness of their ignorance. From withing them I light the lamp of wisdom and dispel all darkness from their lives." ready in my back pocket. So she inevitably asked me to help and then went on her whole guilt trip of how she doesn't know why I help her so much and how she feels bad. So I decided to recite this quote just to be a good friend and rub it into her face. I had told her about this assignment and she knew I was going to quote The Bhagavad-Gita sooner or later so she wasn't completely blown off guard. However, she was put off that I picked such an arrogant quote to use, especially at her expense. I was actually really surprised that she did not punch me. I basically used it to display that helping her is not really a burden on me at all and that I feel sympathy for people having a hard time in a subject. It is my pleasure to help them whenever they need it if they call upon me to do so. Granted, the pious content of the quote was kind of ego maniacal, but it keeps it fun between us.
