Love your neighbors and enemies

The most important teaching in Matthew 5-7 is "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." This is saying that you should not show hate to anyone even if they show hate towards you. I try to not ever show anger to anyone even if they are being obnoxious or mean but instead I will either ignore them or try to reason with them. However if someone is generally nice to me, I will typically always be as nice to them in return. This typically is against the only take care of yourself attitude society has but I think that it very important and what society should try to be like.
Along with being the most important teaching it is also the most neglected of the ones mentioned in Matthew 5-7. On a daily basis, this teaching is being thrown out the window and people still continue to be cruel to their enemies and even to their neighbors. We probably do this to one person that has done wrong to either your friends or family. I personally know that I have treated someone differently because of what they have done to me or one of my friends, and if I was nicer to the person something could have been different today. I think that kindness to everyone and to be understanding of anyone and not holding a different way of associating with enemies and friends could really make a difference in society.
