weak sauce

I wish to disagree with the opinion that most important and neglected tidbit dropped from the sermon on the mountain is that the meek will inherit the Earth. Despite how true anyone might believe it to be, it is the least applicable of the teachings as far as everyday life is concerned. It doesn’t help impact our actions, and adds no more morality then we’ve already acquired. The most it can hope to accomplish is to provide a shed of comfort to the hopeless and stepped on. These words will not incline the rich man to share his wealth with the poor, nor will it persuade the bully to hold his punches. The reason that this is a neglected sentiment is because it is a whisper in the dark to those who need to hear it. It’s something for those with unstable footing to hold onto. The passage doesn’t even encourage the reader to be meek. It simply blesses those who happen to have this disposition. It doesn’t even promise success or influence during the course of one’s life, it gives them satisfaction afterwords. This passage doesn’t even sound like a teaching to me, it seems to be more of a condolence for those who suffer from this condition and have no chance of achieving success in their lifetimes.
