Too Physical

I would like to disagree with Jackie as I believe that man more often than not mutilates himself to prevent himself from committing sin, just not in the very strict literal interpretation. Think of how a married man does not go to a strip club (with his wife's permission). Why doesn't he? He's not going to cheat on his wife if he goes, so what is the harm? He is subjecting himself to temptation which could possibly cause him to sin, which avoiding serves as a preventitive measure. So he is not allowed to go into a strip club and is limiting himself in this way. Though it is not the same as ripping out his eye or chopping off his sinful hand, but he is still unable to act on whatever desire his body would have to visit such a strip club, the same thing that would happen if his eye was leading him to evil or bring him into situations that may provoke sins to occur. I do not believe that the chop off a hand or poke out an eye are literal at all but rather a symbol for preventitive measure, like an alcoholic not going to a bar or a young child hanging out with a destructive neighbor. This follows the teachings of Jesus when referring to all the preventitive measures he adds onto the 10 commandments regarding internal struggles, such as avoiding lusting and getting angry. Those base emotions are notorious for leading to their respective commandments being broken. I do not personally believe this theory in the least, but I believe that the previous examples exemplify cases where avoiding going places or avoiding certain actions are used as ways to prevent tthe temptation of sin arising.
