The Truth
I believe the most important thing Plato cares about in pages 41-51 is the truth and/or being accurate. Reading the first couple of pages, the first thing Euthyphro and Socrates talk about is a case of slander and how Socrates has been indicted. To me, if an author is bringing up an issue in the first ten pages of the book, I believe the author is trying to get across a point. It seems like to me that back in those times, where you could be indicted on a case like slander, they really cared about not ruining someone’s good name. Another reason that makes me believe Plato cares about the truth is that Socrates was always asking Euthyphro certain questions and was always trying to get to the root of all the problems he was faced with or was having. He was always asking questions like why trying to get into his head. Basically just asking the five W’s to Euthyphro to really make him ponder about what he did. In real life, questions make someone think. If you continuing with questions, you can eventually get to the root of the problem and find the truth. I believe that is why Socrates keep pushing Euthyphro for those answers so he can get to the root and truly find out what he is thinking. This, to me, is what Plato cared about in the first ten pages even though the message could change in the next couple chapters to come.
