Rob says the most important teaching in Matthew 5-7 is "blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth". He goes onto explain how people care too much about the things they have. However, I think that this leads to a more important teaching, that of relaxation, instead of humility being at the forefront. If people were to just relax, and not worry so much, things will fall into place. Being meek cannot be the most important teaching because it is based off another teaching, the one telling us not to be anxious.
Also, low anxiety is more ignored than meekness because the latter can lead to more anxiety. There are thousands of charity organizations, and many here on campus. People volunteer and give to the poor all the time. Yet, because the teaching of meekness says it will get you into heaven, many people worry too much about it. People agonize over whether they are helping enough. The teaching of being meek can actually lead to the disregard of the teaching of not worrying. Lastly, not much time is spent on the teaching of humility (only line 5:5). On the other hand, much more effort is taken in explaining the teaching of relaxation (6:25-34), therefore exemplifying it is much more important.
