Relationship with God/ Gods
The biggest difference in views between the Epic of Gilgamesh and Genesis, is that the relationship that the mortals have with the immortals. In Gilgamesh, the gods seem to be more lenient to what the mortals do and the god in Genesis is very strict and unforgiving in how he acts. For example, Gilgamesh was able to kill the innocent Humbaba, who was only doing his job by protecting the forest, and the bull of heaven until the gods decided that he started to get out of line. In Genesis, Adam and Eve eat one apple from the tree of knowledge and that is enough in god's eyes to ban them from the Garden of Eden. Also, never in Gilgamesh did the gods decide to wipe out the entire human population because of the large amount of sinning. The worst that the gods did in Gilgamesh single out those who had sinned and only killed them. However, the biggest difference is that no one in Genesis would ever think of trying to make themselves as powerful and great as god. It is know that god is the greatest power in the universe and they are his servants and if they want to live they will do what he says. In Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh tries as hard as he can to become an imortal or even possibly a god and the gods never express displeasure with it. That is the biggest difference between the views of the Epic of Gilgamesh and Genesis.
